PROGRAMME: Project begun in 1996. Prototype first flew (ZU-CNH) 1 December 2002. Marketing began June 2003.
COSTS: Kit US$32,000, excluding engine, instruments and avionics (2003).
DESIGN FEATURES: Intended to possess STOL performance and operate over long ranges from airfields with density altitudes of some 2,440 m (8,000 ft). Detail design, by former RAF flying instructor Peter Wareham, obviates features of other aircraft which "aviators find frustrating", including cabin width, view from rear seats (raised 15 cm; 6 in), all-round view (bulged canopy and downward-sloping engine cowling) and access to switches and controls. Limited aerobatic capability.
Prominently curved fuselage in profile; constant-chord wing with upturned tips; sweptback fin with fillet and underfin.
Wing section NACA 64 series.
FLYING CONTROLS: Conventional and manual. Flaps.
STRUCTURE: Composites throughout.
LANDING GEAR: Tricycle type; fixed.
