TYPE: Tandem-seat ultralight kitbuilt.

PROGRAMME: Design began in 1991 and construction of prototype in 1992; first flight June 1993. Winner of 15 awards at Copperstate, Oshkosh and Sun 'n' Fun between 1993 and 1999. Qualifies under FAR Pt 21.191 as 51 per cent experimental kit.

CUSTOMERS: About 65 sold and 45 flying by end 2002.

COSTS: Kit US$20,400, including engine; US$13,750 without engine (2003).

DESIGN FEATURES: 400 parts in kits include 7,500 factory-installed rivets. Quoted build time 300 hours.

FLYING CONTROLS: Conventional and manual. Electrically operated flaps with maximum deflection of 30°. Horizontal stabiliser trimmed electrically. Mass-balanced elevator.

STRUCTURE: Fabric-covered fuselage of 3 cm (1.25 in) 6063-T8 aluminium tube with tapered-base tubular longitudinal structure Fabric-covered dual-spar wings with single bracing struts.

LANDING GEAR: Fixed tricycle type with 15 cm (6 in) Goodyear Airspring pneumatic suspension on mainwheels and 7.5 cm (3 in) Airspring on nosewheel; hydraulic brakes on mainwheels with aluminium Hegar wheels and 15x6-6 Cheng Shin tyres; nose tyre 13x5-6.

POWER PLANT: One 41.0 kW (55 hp) Hirth 2703 engine with electric start is standard, driving Tennessee two-blade, wooden pusher propeller of diameter up to 1.52 m (5 ft 0 in); 48.5 kW (65 hp) Hirth 2706 optional. Fuel capacity 68 litres (18.0 US gallons; 15.0 Imp gallons) in two tanks between spars.

EQUIPMENT: Optional BRS VLS 1050 ballistic parachute.
