TYPE: Agricultural sprayer.

PROGRAMME: Prototype produced in 1997 to verify new hopper and landing gear designs, but was otherwise as S2R. Certification achieved 13 March 2000 with first delivery same day.

CUSTOMERS: Eight delivered by October 2000; ninth was first of type registered to Thrush company (c/n T660-109, N204PE), December 2003.

DESIGN FEATURES: Based on S2R but with enlarged hopper, made possible by change to cantilever main landing gear. Enlarged wing centre-section extends span. Wing section NACA 4412 modified; incidence root 3.5°, tip 1.72°, twist 1.784°. Tailplane section NACA 0008 modified.

FLYING CONTROLS: Aileron droop system, plus enlarged flaps. Control surface deflections: ailerons +21°, -17°; elevators +27°, -17°; rudder 19°; flaps -15°.

LANDING GEAR: Tailwheel type; non-retractable. Cantilever mainwheel legs of spring steel, with heavy-duty 29 in tyres (31 in tyres optional) and Cleveland dual calliper hydraulic disc brakes. Wire cutters on main undercarriage legs. Tailwheel 6.00x6.

POWER PLANT: One 917 kW (1,230 shp) Pratt & Whitney Canada PT6A-65AG turboprop. Optionally, one 783 kW (1,050 shp) P&WC PT6A-60AG turboprop. Hartzell HC-B65MP-3C/M10876 five-blade, constant-speed feathering and reversing propeller. Fuel capacity 871 litres (230 US gallons; 191.5 Imp gallons), of which 854 litres (225.6 US gallons; 187.8 Imp gallons) are usable.

ACCOMMODATION: Optional air conditioning.

EQUIPMENT: GFRP hopper can hold 2,500 litres (660 US gallons; 550 Imp gallons) of liquid. Side loader size 76 mm (3 in) on port side. Standard equipment includes Universal spray system with external 76 mm (3 in) stainless steel plumbing, five-blade Weath-Aerofan, 76 mm Transland pump, 68-nozzle sprayboom extending over 70 per cent of span. Optional equipment as per Turbo-Thrush S2R.
