GOODYEAR

Goodyear Tire and Rubber Co., Akron, Ohio, produced airships for US Navy in First World War and formed Goodyear-Zeppelin Corp. to build giant rigid airships post-war. Parent company formed Goodyear Aircraft Corp. 5 December 1939 to take over from G-Z all non-rubber aviation work. Built FG-1 Corsair and designed and built F2G. Post-war built Navy and commercial airships, GA-1 2-seat, GA-2 3-seat and GA-22 4-seat amphibians 1944-52, GA-400R light helicopter (9 May 1954), and Inflatable single-seat aeroplane with wing and rear fuselage of inflatable rubberized fabric 1956.
