In 1941 Ford Motor Co. built colossal plant at Willow Run, Michigan, which by termination on 1 August 1945 had built 6,915 B-24 bombers plus 1,894 shipped for assembly elsewhere. Factory at Iron Mountain, Michigan, produced 4,190 Waco CG-4A troop-carrying gliders.
