TYPE: Agricultural sprayer.

PROGRAMME: Designed by S F Tsarkov, whose previous products included Leader, Frigat and Flamingo lightplanes. Production at Progress plant, Samara. Two-seat prototype (c/n 1010101; registration pending) shown at Moscow, August 2001. Following flight tests during early 2002, modified as Don-M and entered production as such in June 2002.

CURRENT VERSIONS: Single-seat: With 300 litre (79.3 US gallon; 66.0 Imp gallon) chemical tank. Starboard side pilot's door.
Two-seat: With 200 litre (52.8 US gallon; 44.0 Imp gallon) chemical tank; dual controls. Additional port side door for rear occupant.

DESIGN FEATURES: Pod-and-boom configuration with pusher propeller and high, constant chord wing, having single bracing strut each side. Tailplane, of inverted aerofoil section, braced to fin by struts. Sweptback, narrow chord fin. Can be dismantled or reassembled by two persons in 1 hour. Airframe protected for 25 years of open-air operation.

FLYING CONTROLS: Conventional and manual. Pushrod and cable actuation. No aerodynamic balances. Ground-adjustable tabs on starboard aileron and port elevator. Plain flaps.

STRUCTURE: Metal throughout.

LANDING GEAR: Tricycle type; fixed. Cantilever main legs with hydraulic wheel brakes. Trailing link nosewheel mounted rigidly on forward-projecting horizontal arm. All tyres size 400x150. Optional floats or skis.

POWER PLANT: Production Don-M has one VAZ-2112-Avia adapted motorcar engine rated at 101 kW (136 hp). Prototype had 73.5 kW (98.6 hp) Rotax 912 ULS flat-four driving a three-blade Kiev ground-adjustable pitch propeller. Fuel capacity 50 litres (13.2 US gallons; 11.0 Imp gallons).

ACCOMMODATION: One or two seats (in tandem).

EQUIPMENT: Chemical tank behind seat(s). Spraybar beneath wings; coverage rate of 1 hectare (2.5 acres)/min.
