KOSTOVICH

Ogneslav Stefanovich Kostovich, originally Hungarian, was pioneer of Russian aircraft, demonstrating models of helicopter, aeroplane and even ornithopter as early as 1879. Spent most time with dirigible Rossiya, and patented forms of plywood, but built 40-hp aeroplane 1911, seaplane 1914 and 100-hp amphibious monoplane 1916, though at least 2 of these were never flown.
