KUMERTSKOYE AVIATSIONNOYE PROIZVODSTVENNOYE PREDPRIYATIE (Kumertau Aviation Production Enterprise)

KAPP has manufactured helicopters, aeroplanes and related equipment at Kumertau since 1962. Major programmes have involved the Kamov Ka-26 and Ka-27/28/29/32 helicopter series, Myasishchev M-17/M-55, wings for the Tupolev Tu-154M transport, and unmanned air vehicles including the Tu-243 Reis-D reconnaissance system. KAPP is the only manufacturer of carbon fibre/glass fibre rotor blades in the Russian Federation and Associated States (CIS).
Current production includes main rotor blades and associated bushes for the Ka-226. KAPP built second and third prototype Ka-226s and, in mid-2002, had further helicopter under construction; is building the type for Moscow city government, which plans to receive three in 2003, four in 2004 and final three in 2005. Ka-32 remains in low-volume production; Ka-31 being manufactured for India. KAPP has also been chosen to manufacture the Ilyushin Il-112 transport for the Russian Air Forces. Helicopter overhaul activities have included Indian Ka-28s.
The plant is to become part of the consortium led by RSK 'MiG' under aerospace restructuring plans announced by the Russian government in May 2001.
