Largest Polish aircraft plant, at 39-300 Mielec, produced over 15,000 aircraft 1948-92. Full title Wytwórnia Sprzętu Komunikacyjnego PZL Mielec (transport equipment manufacturing centre, Mielec). Since 1960 delivered 12,000 An-2 in 11 main versions. In 1984 began production of An-28 STOL transport, and expect to add An-38 later. Ag-aircraft include M-20 Dromader (probably most capable in world), M-21 Mini and M-24 Super. Other types M-20 Mewa (Piper Seneca II) and M-26 Iskierka aerobatic trainer. Subcontract work includes major portions of Il-86 and Il-96, and parts for Socata Tobago. See also PZL Mielec.
