Engineer Birger Hønningstad formed company at Skøyen 1936. Produced Model A light utility transport 1938, but construction of C-5 utility transport seaplane delayed by war, finally completed by Widerøe’s 1948. Company moved to Oslo Fornebu 1946, and name changed 1947 to Norsk Flyindustri A/S, but best-known product, 5A Finmark 10/14-seat amphibian (17 September 1949), always known as Hønningstad 5A.
