RIKUGUN

Not company but word meaning army, as distinct from Kaigun, navy. Rikugun Kokugijutsu Kenkyujo (army aerotechnical research institute) produced several projects in Second World War but flew only one type, Ki-93 heavy attack fighter (notable for 6-blade propellers on 2,400-hp Ha-214 engines), 2 prototypes built by Dai-Ichi Rikugun Kokusho at Tachikawa, 1945. Ki-202 advanced rocket-powered interceptor (derived from Mitsubishi J8M) never completed.
