Nihon Hikoki KK, Japan Aircraft Manufacturing Co. Ltd, originally Nippi motorcycle firm, began 1959 overhauling US Navy aircraft in Japan and undertaking STOL research with series of modifications to Saab Safir. Grown to have 2 large plants, 1 (Atsugi) still mainly repair/overhaul, other (Sugita, Yokohama) with 30 major programmes including parts for 757, 767, 777, F-15, MD-11, T-4, P-3C, CH-47J, etc.
