Kyushu Hikoki Kabushiki Kaisha was Watanabe under new name May 1943, name being that of island where 3 small factories (later 6) were located. Main strength was trainers for Imperial Navy, notably K9W (derived from Bü 131), K10W (derived from NA-16) and K11W (own design). Also made Q1W Tokai original design of ASW aircraft. Licence production included E13A and E14Y seaplanes, A5M fighter and wings for G4M bomber. J7W fighter with pusher 6-blade propeller was single prototype at war’s end.
