By far biggest aerospace company in SE Asia, Industri Pesawat Terbang Nusantara inaugurated (as PT Industri Pesawat Terbang Nurtanio) 23 August 1976 when decision taken to centralize all nation's aerospace activities. Present name adopted 1985. Produced NC-212 Aviocar, NBO-105, NBK-117, NAS 332 and NBell 412 all under licence, and parts for 737, 767, Fokker 100, F-16 and P&W engines. Joint developer with CASA of CN-235 transport and is developing N-250 50-seat regional transport independently. N-442 helicopter was studied with DASA. Company was restructured in January 2000.
