TYPE: Two-seat lightplane; side-by-side ultralight.
PROGRAMME: Designed by Attila Kenéz. Prototype (35-15) first flew in November 2003; further four development aircraft. First production Corone Mk 1 shown at Aero '05 in April 2005, with 300 flying hours accumulated. Mk II mock-up shown at ILA, Berlin, May 2006.
CUSTOMERS: Three production aircraft under construction by mid-2006. US marketing began in 2006 with appearance at Oshkosh.
DESIGN FEATURES: Intended as spacious, economic, light sport aircraft (LSA/VLA) or ultralight employing high-technology composites and suitable for touring and glider towing. Readily dismantled for storage.
Low, tapered semi-monocoque wing with upturned tips; sweptback fin and low tailplane.
FLYING CONTROLS: Conventional and manual. Frise ailerons, pushrod operated; single-piece elevator, pushrod operated, with flight-adjustable trim tah. Horn-balanced rudder. Slotted flaps.
STRUCTURE: Composites monocoque. Fuselage of Kevlar honeycomb sandwich mixed with carbon fibre and glass fibre, bonded with epoxy resin. Wings assembled from upper and lower load-bearing skins.
LANDING GEAR: Tricycle type; fixed. Fuselage-mounted, spring cantilever mainwheel legs; steerable nosewheel. Wheel fairings throughout.
POWER PLANT: One Jabiru piston engine; 59.7 kW (80 hp) J2200 in ultralight; 89 kW (120 hp) J3300 in VLA. Two-blade Helix fixed-pitch propeller. Wing fuel tanks; capacity 50 litres (13,2 US gallons; 11,0 Imp gallons) in ultralight; 120 litres (31,7 US gallons; 26,4 Imp gallons) in VLA.
ACCOMMODATION: Two persons, with dual controls, beneath single-piece, forward-opening (electrical option) canopy/windscreen. Instrument panel pivots with canopy.
AVIONICS: Instrumentation: Analogue or 'glass cockpit' instruments mounted in the base of the opening canopy.
EQUIPMENT: Ballistic parachute standard.
