In mid-2003, the company released first details of the Replica programme, under which a full-scale replica of an advanced, low-observables combat aircraft was tested in an anechoic chamber during the mid-1990s in a £ 20+ million programme jointly funded by the UK MoD. Concluded in 1999, the programme provided experience of manufacturing large carbon fibre composites skin panels and jig-less assembly relying on laser projection and measurement linked directly to CAD models.
