PIEL

Claude Piel produced light aircraft from 1949, most famous being CP.30 Emeraude (1952), marketed in many variants in form of plans, kits and complete aircraft by Ateliers Aéronautiques de la Côte d'Émeraude, Société Ouest de Constructions Aéronautiques and (250 +) Scintex-Aviation, by Fairtravel (as Linnet) in UK, by Durban Aircraft (as Aeriel II) in S. Africa and as Aeronasa in Spain. Scintex collaborated with Super Emeraude, and from 1972 Avions Claude Piel suddenly proliferated with Diamant, Beryl, Zef, Pinocchio and even tandem-wing CP.500. Emeraude led to CAARP (Mudry) products, while Piel ceased factory manufacture and, despite death of founder, remains major source of kits/plans.
