Dipl.-Ing. Ludwig Bölkow formed civil engineering company at Stuttgart 1953, from which stemmed Bölkow Entwicklungen KG formed 1 May 1956, HQ at Ottobrunn, Munich. Began wide aeronautical research and production programme, beginning with Klemm Kl 107, produced as Bölkow Kl 107 versions and subsequently F 207 and Bö 207. Other products gliders, including Fauvel AV.36, Bö 103 light helicopter and Bö 46 high-power research helicopter (January 1964). Became Bölkow GmbH and merged with Messerschmitt AG 31 October 1968.
