TYPE: Light utility transport.
PROGRAMME: Announced at Sun 'n' Fun, 8 April 2001, that Moravan was to manufacture under licence, as the Z 400, a re-engined (engineering work by NA Design) version of the Russian Technoavia SM-92 Finist. Prototype then under conversion; rolled out at Kunovice 21 January 2002 and made first flight (OK-HZL) on 22 May 2002. Production starting July 2002. Certification (JAR 23) targeted for late 2002, deliveries from early 2003. Amphibious float version under study. Predicted market for 500 Orenda-powered Finists.
CUSTOMERS: One sold to Canadian oil company by early 2002. Interest from Brazilian, US and other Canadian operators.
COSTS: Development costs approximately US$3 million by mid-2002; unit price Kcs26 million (US$700,000) at that time.
POWER PLANT: One 447 kW (600 hp) Orenda OE-600A eight-cylinder V-type piston diesel engine (derated to 362 kW; 485 hp); three-blade Avia AV 803 propeller. Fuel capacity 760 litres (201 US gallons; 167 Imp gallons). Provision for two auxiliary tanks internally, each 200 litres (52.8 US gallons; 44.0 Imp gallons).
