TYPE: Side-by-side ultralight/kitbuilt.

PROGRAMME: Design started June 1994; first flight (UFM-11 prototype) 23 May 1996; production began October 1996; first customer delivery October 1997.

CURRENT VERSIONS: UFM-11: Short-span (11.80 m; 38 ft 8½ in) version. Production discontinued in 2000.
UFM-13: Standard version, as described. Optional wingtips to extend span from 13 to 15 m (UFM-13/15). Also available as sailplane (UFM-13W) with single mainwheel.
A UFM-13/15 (D-MZGG) shown at Berlin in May 2002 featured a Hirth fuel-injected engine and Hoffmann HO-V62R two-blade, variable pitch, metal propeller.

CUSTOMERS: Total 13 factory-built UFM-11s and 19 UFM-13s built by late 2001; exported to Australia, Austria, Germany, USA and elsewhere. Three exported to Ireland in 2000, identified as UFM-11 Moira Lambada.

COSTS: Flyaway, excluding VAT, DM98,000 (2000).

DESIGN FEATURES: Conforms to JAR-VLA. Forward-swept wings with cranked leading-edge and laminar profile (aerofoil section SM 701); incidence 3o. T tail. Wings and horizontal tail detach for storage and transportation.

FLYING CONTROLS: Conventional (manual) flaperons, rudder and one-piece elevator; upper surface Schempp-Hirth spoilers.

STRUCTURE: Laminated glass fibre and carbon fibre, with CFRP wing spar.

LANDING GEAR: Fixed tricycle or tailwheel type; hydraulic brakes. Mainwheel tyres 4.00-8.

POWER PLANT: One 59.6 kW (79.9 hp) Rotax 912 UL, 73.5 kW (98.6 hp) Rotax 912 ULS or 59.7 kW (80.0 hp) Jabiru 2000 four-stroke engine; driving SportProp two-blade, glass fibre (Rotax) or Kremen three-blade, wooden (Jabiru) propeller. Fuel tank in port wing, capacity 50 litres (13.2 US gallons; 11.0 Imp gallons); second tank can be fitted into starboard wing.
