TL-2000 Sting Carbon: All-CFRP version; prototype OK-GUU 10; announced 2000; type certificate issued 19 December 2002. Retractable gear version shown (prior to first flight) at Aero '03, Friedrichshafen, April 2003. Estimated 15 kt (28 km/h; 17 mph) speed advantage for 3 kg (7 lb) weight penalty.
CUSTOMERS: Total 44 registered in Czech Republic by late 2000; exports include several registered in Netherlands; others to Cyprus, Hungary and Portugal. Total of at least 150 TL-96s and 50 TL-2000s registered by April 2003.
COSTS: TL-96 €62,100; TL-2000 €69,200 (2003).
DESIGN FEATURES: Conventional, low-wing monoplane with constant-chord wings and tailplane, plus sweptback fin.
MS 313 wing aerofoil section. Optional tailcone extension for towing hook.
FLYING CONTROLS: Manual. All-moving tailplane with anti-balance tab. Two-position split flaps.
STRUCTURE: All-composites (GFRP and CFRP).
LANDING GEAR: Fixed tricycle type; GFRP cantilever legs and wheel speed fairings. Steerable nosewheel. Tyre sizes 4.00-8/400x100 (main), 4.00-4 (nose). Hydraulic mainwheels brakes.
POWER PLANT: One 59.6 kW (79.9 hp) Rotax 912 UL-DCDI or 84.6 kW (113.4 hp) Rotax 914 flat-four engine; three-blade Albastar propeller. Optional 67.1 kW (90 hp) Aero Prag AP-45 flat-four and two-blade wooden propeller. Fuel capacity (RON 95) 50 litres (13.2 US gallons; 11.0 Imp gallons) in TL-96 and 63 litres (16.6 US gallons; 13.9 Imp gallons) in TL-2000, optionally 100 litres (26.4 US gallons; 22.0 Imp gallons).
