EL GAVILÁN SA
Formerly Aero Mercantil; associated with Piper Aircraft Corporation as dealer and then distributor since 1952; sold its shares in AICSA and in 1991 formed new Gavilán (Sparrowhawk) company to pursue development and manufacture of own-design EL1 utility aircraft.
Advanced Wing Technologies (AWT) of Canada had planned to build Gavilán 358 under late 1999 agreement, but this had been abandoned by mid-2000, at which time alternative North American production facilities being sought; by mid-2003, no evidence that this had been accomplished. Production appears to have ended in 1999-2000 after some 12 aircraft.
