TYPE: Tandem-seat ultralight.

PROGRAMME: Designed by Vesselin Valkanov. Prototype (LZ-DAR) first flew 20 May 2000, initially powered by a 39.0 kW (52.3 hp) Hirth 2704. No known production.

COSTS: US$50,000 (agricultural version, 2002).

DESIGN FEATURES: Conventional high-wing monoplane of angular appearance; constant-chord wing and tailplane, both strut-braced; sweptback fin; good all-round view from cockpit. Horizontal wingtip vanes and leading-edge slots outboard.

FLYING CONTROLS: Conventional and manual. Flaps (0,15 and 30o). Trim tabs on starboard aileron and rudder; flight-adjustable (electric) tab on single-piece elevator. Aileron and rudder actuation by cables; elevator by pushrods. No aerodynamic balances.

STRUCTURE: Generally of 1050, 2024, 3130 and 6164 aluminium alloy sheet and type with milled and turned steel elements in landing gear. Composites engine cowling. Single-spar wing.

LANDING GEAR: Tailwheel type; fixed. Bungee shock-absorbers. Mainwheel size 6.00 standard; 8.00 optional. Steerable tailwheel.

POWER PLANT: One 47.8 kW (64.1 hp) Rotax 582 UL two-stroke with 2.58:1 reduction gear driving a Powerfin three-blade, composites propeller. Fuel tank in each wing and fuselage, each 30 litres (7.9 US gallons; 6.6 Imp gallons); total fuel 90 litres (23.8 US gallons; 19.8 Imp gallons).

ACCOMMODATION: Two pilots in tandem in enclosed, extensively glazed cockpit, with single door, starboard, to seats and baggage area to rear.

EQUIPMENT: Optional Spray Miser spraying bars mounted at mainwheel leg roots.
