To establish national aircraft industry Bulgarian government formed Darjavna Aeroplanna Rabotilnitza (state aeroplane workshops) at Bojourishte 1924. Began by repairing and then building German aircraft, DFW C.IV, and 42 Fw 44 Stieglitz; own designs (most prototypes or short runs only): DAR.1 trainer, DAR.2 recon biplane, DAR.3 Garvan recon bomber, DAR.4 6-seater, DAR.5 aerobatic trainer, DAR.6 trainer, DAR.8 sport biplane, DAR.10 monoplane attack bomber and DAR.11 fighter (1941).
