VICTA

In 1953 Henry Millicer, of GAF Melbourne, won lightplane design competition by Royal Aero Club against 103 rival designs. Nobody showed interest in manufacture until in 1958 Pacific & Western Aviation built prototype (31 March 1959). Then non-aviation Victa Consolidated Industries undertook to build 50, also starting work on Millicer’s all-metal R-2 4-seater, which remained one-off. Renamed Victa Ltd built 51 Airtourers redesigned in metal before selling out to AESL 1967.
