TYPE: Side-by-side kitbuilt.

PROGRAMME: Developed from the Aero Mirage TC-2 of 1983. Prototype flew November 1996. First two production aircraft displayed at Oshkosh in July 1999; third flew March 2000. Production delayed from mid-2001 to mid-2002 whilst buyer sought for company.

CUSTOMERS: Five flying and seven under construction by mid-2003.

COSTS: Basic kit US$24,995, US$36,500 O-360 engine kit and US$11,995 VFR avionics kit (2003).

DESIGN FEATURES: Conventional design optimised for amateur assembly; low-mounted, constant-chord wings and mid-positioned tailplane. Steeply raked windscreen. Quoted buld time 570 hours for quick-build kit version; company has building facility to enable purchasers to complete in 30 to 45 days. Roll rate 120°/s.

FLYING CONTROLS: Conventional and manual. Flaps deflect 10/20/35°.

STRUCTURE: Generally of composites. Two-spar wing has modified NACA64415 aerofoil and 3° dihedral.

POWER PLANT: One 134 kW (180 hp) Textron Lycoming O-360 flat-four driving a two-blade Hartzell HCC2YR-7666A constant-speed propeller. Fuel capacity 152 litres (40.0 US gallons; 33.3 Imp gallons) in two wing tanks; two optional extra 38 litre (10.0 US gallon; 8.3 Imp gallon) tanks can be fitted. Optionally, 149 kW (200 hp) IO-360 or 194 kW (260 hp) IO-540.

LANDING GEAR: Tricycle type; fixed. Cantilever mainwheel legs are fibre glass; nose leg is 4130 steel tube; speed fairings on all wheels. Main units have Cleveland wheels and brakes with Goodyear 5.00-5 tyres; nosewheel is steerable and has 4.50-5 Lamb tyre.

ACCOMMODATION: Two, side by side. Upward-opening, centreline hinged door each side; fixed windscreen. Baggage stowage behind seats.

AVIONICS: To customer's specification. Standard VFR option includes Honeywell KLX 135 GPS/com, KT 76A transponder and Sigtronics intercom; IFR version adds KX 155 nav/com and KI 209 VOR/LOC.
