All-Russian Scientific Research Institute of Radio Engineering
ARIRE turned 80 in August 2001. The research institute is renowned for developing the first indigenous acquisition radars that entered service with the Soviet Navy, Air Force and Air Defence. A number of design bureaux, research institutes and factories have branched out of ARIRE. The institute's major lines of activity are comprehensive research of radar acquisition; development of universal radars for the Air Force, Army, Navy and air traffic control;
theoretical and applied research in radar system engineering; development of prospective modular phased-array and electronically-scanned radars, solid-state microwave transmitters; development of radar protection against precision weapons; development of automated simulators; and conversion applications.
