EKSPERIMENTALNYI MASHINOSTROITELNYI ZAVOD IMENI V.M. MYASISHCHEVA

The Myasishchev OKB was founded in 1952, and led by Prof Vladimir Mikhailovich Myasishchev until his death on 14 October 1978. In the 1970s and 1980s, the bureau was engaged in development of multipurpose subsonic high-altitude aircraft, but has more recently diversified into civil aviation. In 1981, the bureau was named after Prof Myasishchev.
Attempts to forge overseas alliances proved unsuccessful, but in April 2001 it was announced that the KASKOL group of companies, the Nizhny Novgorod Sokol Aviation Plant and Myasishchev had formed Novi Regionalnyi Samoletnyi (NoRS, New Regional Aeroplanes), which will produce the M-101T Gzhel business aircraft at Nizhny Novgorod.
In 2001, Myasishchev was reported to be preparing a response to an anticipated official requirement for a 130/170-seat short/medium-range airliner to be developed under the 2002-10 civil aviation plan and enter service in 2015. This would be based on the GP-60 series of aerodynamic studies and in April 2003 it announced that it was beginning an 18-month research programme in association with the Central Aerohydrodynamic Institute (TsAGI). Other aircraft in this family could include the 14-seat M-60 Svetozar, M-60 Perun (214-seat) and M-60 Kolovrat (35,000 kg; 77,161 lb payload).
