LINDSTRAND BALLOONS LTD
Formed November 1991. Workforce more than 70 in 2002. Company is now part of Cameron Holdings Group, but Per Lindstrand retains a 35 per cent shareholding. Product range includes hot-air and gas balloons and airships. Its round-the-world ICO Global Challenger, with a volume of more than 36,000 m3 (1,271,330 cu ft), is the largest super-pressure balloon so far built. Last delivery was made in 2000. Other products include manned and unmanned tethered aerostats supplied to the UK Ministry of Defence and for civilian passenger-carrying; high-altitude, long-endurance (HALE) airships; military aircraft hangars (supplied to Swedish FMV); and air-cell inflatable buildings.
