SLINGSBY AVIATION LIMITED
Formerly a subsidiary of ML Holdings, Slingsby was sold to Cobham plc in 1997 and is a component of Chelton Group within that holding. Company specialises in application of composites materials; was previously manufacturer of sailplanes but now concentrates on development and low-rate production of T67 Firefly series of aerobatic training aircraft, for which new orders received in 2001-02.
Other activities include design and manufacture of air cushion vehicles and airship gondolas, tailfins and propeller ducts in composites materials; and design, development and manufacture of high-performance composites structures for marine and aerospace industries. Supplier to Lockheed Martin of C-130J cockpit interior trim panels in sculptured composites. Other production includes components for Europa kitbuilt and propeller spinners for Bombardier Dash 8 Q400.
Work for UK MoD includes technical support for RAF Air Cadet gliders and Firefly aircraft.
