JURCA AIR FORCE-COMITÉ MARCEL JURCA

M Marcel Jurca (1921-2001) designed a series of high-performance light aircraft and replicas of Second World War fighters over a period of 55 years. Most have wood or metal tube fuselages; stress analysis is verified by the ESTACA university. Kit production will continue under the aegis of the Jurca Air Force-Comité Marcel Jurca.
Jurca aircraft (all available to amateur builders) are MJ2 Tempete; MJ3 Dart; MJ4 Shadow; MJ5 Sirocco; MJ23 Orage; MJ51 Spérocco; MJ53 Autan; and MJ55 Biso (Provence wind) two-seat, fully aerobatic trainer which employs NACA 21012 section wing of MJ7/MJ77, 134 kW (180 hp) Textron Lycoming engine and first flew (F-PJJR) in October 1997.
Replicas comprise MJ7 Gnatsum two-third size Mustang Replica; MJ77 Gnatsum three-quarter size, two-seat Mustang (early- and late-style canopies); MJ8 three-quarter size Fw 190 Replica; MJ9 three-quarter size Messerschmitt Bf 109 Replica; MJ10 three-quarter size Spitfire Replica; MJ12 three-quarter size P-40 Replica; MJ100 full-size Spitfire Replica (prototype first flown 14 October 1994; two others under construction at Prescott, Arizona, with 1,044 kW; 1,480 hp Allison piston engines; one with 1,044 kW (1,400 hp) derated Rolls-Royce Griffon Mk 59 at Annemasse, France); MJ90 full-size Messerschmitt Bf 109 Replica (410 kW; 550 hp Double Ranger V12-770C-1 engine); MJ80 full-size Focke-Wulf Fw 190 Replica (first under construction in Germany with 895 kW; 1,200 hp Pratt & Whitney R-1830 radial engine); MJ70 full-size P-51D Mustang Replica (under development by January 1996, will be powered by 1,044 kW; 1,400 hp Allison engine).
Under development in 200 were the MJ11 single-seat, 119 kW (160 hp) biplane based on the Bücker Bü-133 Jungmeister; and MJ16 racer, with sportplane derivative.
Some 150 MJ aircraft have been registered and flown and a further 20 are under construction. Leading types are MJ2 (46 built) and MJ5 (70). Other Jurca projects include the MJ15 Delta, MJ22 Twin Tempête, MJ50 Bise, MJ52 Zéphir, MJ54 Silas, MJ56 Sirocco S, MJ6 Crivats and MJ14 Fourtouna.
