SOCATA Société de Constructions d'Avions de Tourisme et d'Affaires (Subsidiary of EADS)

Formed 1966 as a subsidiary of Aerospatiale responsible for light aircraft. By mid-2002, Socata had produced over 2,100 TB series aircraft, excluding the TBM 700. In 1999, sold and delivered 40 TBs; sold 16 and delivered 21 TBM 700s. Reduced deliveries of 45 TBs and 33 TBMs in 2000; target for 2001 was 100+ and 33, respectively, but 63 and 33 actually achieved; 2002 deliveries totalled 70 TBs and 34 TBMs, with 2003 deliveries projected at 57 and 37 respectively. Revenue for 2001 totalled US$199 million.
Also makes components for Airbus A300/320/330/340/380/400M, Lockheed Martin C-130, ATR 42/72, Dassault Falcons, Eurocopter Super Puma, Dauphin, Ecureuil and EC 130, and Embraer 170 and 190, satellite structures. Covered floor area 77,675 m² (830,000 sq ft); workforce in 2003 was 1,090.
Following formation of EADS on 10 July 2000, Socata is 100 per cent owned by that company.
