French Aerospace Industries Association
GIFAS (French Aerospace Industries Association) has around 200 members, from major prime contractors and system suppliers to small specialist companies. They cover the full spectrum of skills from the design, development and production of aerospace systems and equipment to maintenance and operation. Activities extend from civil and military aircraft and helicopters to engines, missiles, spacecraft and launch vehicles, plus major systems, equipment, subassemblies and associated software.
GIFAS represents the industry on French, European and international bodies, both public and private, co-ordinates industrial and business activities and harmonises technical, trade and business procedures.
GIFAS examines economic, social, financial and technical regulations likely to affect its members' interests be it public contracts, multinational programmes, standardisation or other important issues.
Through the Institut Aeronautique & Spatial (Aerospace Institute), GIFAS contributes to training programmes in France, open to trainees from selected countries.
