TYPE: Tandem-seat ultralight biplane.

PROGRAMME: Design, by Peter Funk, started late 1994; construction of prototype began 1995; first flight (D-MPLI) March 1997; first flight of production aircraft May 1997; certification received in 1999.

CUSTOMERS: 57 Flying by January 2003.

COSTS: Kit €25,000, ready-to-fly €53,000, including taxes (2003).

DESIGN FEATURES: Wings, of laminar aerofoil section, have sweepback, and fold back for storage. Quoted build time 500 hours.

FLYING CONTROLS: Conventional and manual rudder and elevator; full-span flaperons on upper and lower wings.

STRUCTURE: Welded steel tube forward fuselage with riveted aluminium tube rear section; composites and GFRP laminate skinning; wings have carbon fibre main spar and leading-edge with aluminium secondary spar and flaperons, rear section fabric-covered.

LANDING GEAR: Tailwheel type; non-retractable. Tailwheel can be unlocked for ground manoeuvring. Mainwheels 6.00-6.

POWER PLANT: One 59.6 kW (79.9 hp) Rotax 912 UL, 73.5 kW (98.6 hp) Rotax 912 ULS or turbocharged 84.6 kW (113.4 hp) Rotax 914 driving an MT-Propeller two-blade wooden propeller; Junkers, Duc WarpDrive three-blade, carbon fibre propeller optional. Fuel capacity 58 litres (15.3 US gallons; 12.8 Imp gallons).
