OMF GmbH acquired aerodynamic technology for the Stoddard-Hamilton GlaStar from Arlington Aircraft Developments in March 1998. Company's 1,500 m2 (16,146 sq ft) factory on Trollenhagen airfield at Neubrandenburg was opened on 10 May 2000. In September 2001, the company had 54 employees; it had hoped to expand to 300 bt 2004.
In April 2003, work started on a new C$25 million, 10,000 m2 (107,650 sq ft) manufacturing facility for OMF Aircraft at Trois-Rivieres, Quebec, Canada; the first 2,500 m2 (26,900 sq ft) was completed in August 2003.
OMF GmbH entered voluntary bankruptcy on 9 December 2003, but its Canadian branch, OMF Aircraft, 70 per cent owned by OMF GmbH, was unaffected, and expected to launch its own production in May 2004.
