DORNIER-WERKE GmbH

Main company renamed 1933, opening factories at Löwenthal, Allmansweiler and Wismar, latter (Dornier-Werke Wismar GmbH) becoming Norddeutsche Dornier 1940 with plants at Lübeck, Reinickendorf and Sternberg. In 1938 parent opened R&D centre at Oberpfaffenhofen, near Ingolstadt, became chief wartime development centre. Major types Do 18, 24 and 26 flying-boats (gigantic Do 214 not built), Do 17, 217 and 317 bombers and Do 335 Pfeil fighter, but main task production of He 111, Ju 88, Fw 190 and Me 410.
