INDÚSTRIA AERONÁUTICA NEIVA SA (Subsidiary of Embraer)

Formed October 1953 by José Carlos de Barros Neiva; produced Paulistinha, Regente, Universal and related lightplanes of own design. Became wholly owned Embraer subsidiary 10 March 1980; factory area 35,700 m² (384,275 sq ft), workforce 930 in 2002, following October 2001 cut of 270 staff. Previously played major role in Embraer general aviation programmes, including complete production of EMB-711ST Corisco Turbo, EMB-710 Carioca, EMB-720D Minuano (of which some 300 delivered), EMB-721 Sertanejo and EMB-810D Seneca IV (licence-built Piper models); also responsible since 1980 for total production of EMB-202 and now discontinued EMB-201A agricultural sprayers, and for components manufacture for ERJ-145 and Embraer 170/190programmes. Low-volume production of EMB-120 Brasilia was transferred from Embraer in 2001. Built 17 light aircraft in 1999; same in 2000; and 11 in 2001.
